National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman Releases Spoken Word Poem on Instagram

“We are the breakers or the bringers of our civil rights.” —Amanda Gorman.

This month, VoteProChoice launched their 2022 Voter Guide alongside a six-figure ad buy across critical battleground states in an effort to elect pro-choice candidates to every office, from Congress to City Council. Celebrities like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Piper Perabo, and Nick Offerman have uplifted the Voter Guide on social media, reaching millions of voters across America in the process.

This past weekend, more celebrities and public figures joined the movement, including National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, who released a spoken word poem highlighting the voter guide.

Below is a transcript of her poem:

We have election on November 8th and abortion is at stake in every single state. As pro-choice voters, we are the majority, but we have to vote. Our priority must be electing pro choice candidates at every level of government: Our Governors, Attorneys General, State Supreme Court justices, and State Legislators can be the bringers or the breakers of our civil rights. So now and not later, check your voter registration, make a voting plan, stand with pro-choice candidates everywhere. Because everywhere our rights are in danger, but we have the might, the power, and the hope to use it. All we have to do is vote."

Since the VoteProChoice Voter Guide launched, it has been accessed by hundreds of thousands of voters across the country, with unprecedented numbers of young voters and new voters signing up to use the voter guide.
