Since 2016, VoteProChoice helps pro-choice voters elect pro-choice champions in every election everywhere. From school board to sheriff to city council, every elected position has the power to expand or restrict our reproductive freedom. Our Team Vote Pro-Choice is powered by a devoted, creative, diverse group of committed individuals throughout the country. We protect their safety and identity in a Post-Roe world. Leadership About Our Executive Director Sara Tabatabaie Sara Tabatabaie is the Executive Director of Vote Pro-Choice. With more than a decade of political campaign experience, she has worked on presidential races, hyper-local campaigns, and everything in between – always with a special emphasis on growing the electorate and empowering young people, specifically young women, to engage in the political process. Since joining Vote Pro-Choice in 2019, Sara moved from Communications Director to Chief Political Officer to Interim Executive Director, at the request of the Board in August of 2023. Under her leadership, Vote Pro-Choice scaled its national voter guide program to the largest in the country, becoming the most-used guide on the BallotReady platform ahead of the 2020 and 2022 elections and earning the title of ‘Most Impactful Digital Tool in 2022’ by the Center for Digital Strategy. Before joining Vote Pro-Choice, Sara served as the Digital Director for Rock the Vote, focused on registering and turning out young people to vote. For years, she served on the Steering Committee for National Voter Registration Day, and in 2018, Sara worked on the Second Chances campaign, a successful ballot initiative effort to restore voting rights to people with prior felony convictions in Florida. As a new mother, Sara’s lived experience is essential to this moment. Her Middle Eastern heritage provides a lens into barriers specifically facing women of color in the world of reproductive freedom. She openly and honestly shares her own abortion story, naming that it was her decision to terminate a pregnancy in 2012 that freed her to reclaim her life and ultimately become a mother a decade later on her own terms. Chief Program Officer Carly LeQuire Carly is the Chief Program Officer at Vote Pro-Choice, where she leads partnerships, endorsements, and the organization’s award-winning voter guide. Since joining in 2019 as Manager of the Voter Guide, she has overseen its expansion into the largest pro-choice voter resource in the U.S., covering every race from presidential elections to local school boards. Under her leadership, the voter guide was recognized as the "Most Impactful Digital Tool" by the Center for Digital Strategy in 2022. Carly’s commitment to reproductive freedom and voter empowerment is informed by her early work in health advocacy, where she supported individuals living with chronic illness and mental health challenges. This experience gave her a deep understanding of the importance of advocating for underserved communities, shaping her mission-driven approach today. Before transitioning into civic tech, Carly served as Director of Development at AIDS Alabama. She then managed customer success at BallotReady, working with some of the company's earliest clients to develop and implement voter education and engagement tools. Carly thrives on implementing scalable agile processes that empower small teams to achieve national impact, ensuring voters have the information they need to make informed, pro-choice decisions in elections at every level. Communications Director Maris Nyhart Maris Nyhart is a communications strategist and staunch advocate for reproductive rights, currently serving as the Communications Director for Vote Pro-Choice. Maris has helped shape Vote Pro-Choice’s communications strategy since 2019, working to educate voters about the powers of state and local office, mobilizing millions of voters across key states and districts, and growing the Vote Pro-Choice grassroots fundraising program. She also oversees the Vote Pro-Choice paid media program and notably led a $500K campaign in Virginia that helped secure pro-choice control of the legislature in 2023. Prior to joining Vote Pro-Choice, Maris worked in social impact communications across issue areas, including criminal legal system reform, disaster relief, and opportunity youth advocacy. Equally at home creating big-picture strategies and getting into the weeds to execute them, she’s passionate about storytelling as a tool to bring people into progressive movements and grow political power. • Vote Pro-Choice Responds to Biden Administration’s New Guidelines on Protecting Abortion Access 100 Days After Dobbs V. Jackson | VoteProChoice

October 4, 2022 < Back Vote Pro-Choice Responds to Biden Administration’s New Guidelines on Protecting Abortion Access 100 Days After Dobbs V. Jackson #VOTEPROCHOICE Chief Political Officer and Communications Director Sara Tabatabaie released the following statement in response to the Biden Administration's new proposed guidelines and grants to protect and expand reproductive rights: “Since the devastating Dobbs ruling, millions of Americans have been stripped of access to critical healthcare, and doctors are threatened with criminal penalties, sometimes forced to consult lawyers in real time before providing emergency care. And according to Republicans, this is only the beginning, as they seek to ban abortion nationally. “We’ve known what the goal of the anti-choice right was for decades, and now that they’ve successfully overturned Roe v. Wade, we are witnessing the devastation firsthand. The Biden Administration, and administrations before, should have been more proactive. Instead, these reactive measures now come too late, and too incrementally. “With exactly five weeks left until the midterm election, it’s clear that the only solution to protect abortion access and reproductive healthcare is to expand our margins not only in Congress, but also in state houses and city halls across the country. At #VOTEPROCHOICE , we have been sounding the alarm for years that the real battle for abortion access happens down-ballot, in state legislatures and local governments, where so many horrifying and unpopular bans originate in the first place.”

  • Vote Pro-Choice Responds to President Biden’s Speech Outlining the Stakes for Abortion Rights in the 2022 Midterms; Highlights 2022 Voter Guide | VoteProChoice

October 18, 2022 < Back Vote Pro-Choice Responds to President Biden’s Speech Outlining the Stakes for Abortion Rights in the 2022 Midterms; Highlights 2022 Voter Guide In response to President Biden’s speech in Washington, DC highlighting the importance of electing a Democratic Congress to codify Roe v. Wade and protect abortion rights on a federal level, Sara Tabatabaie, Chief Political and Communications Officer of #VOTEPROCHOICE , released the following statement: “ President Biden is right to emphasize the stakes in this year’s midterms. Abortion is on the ballot, and the ramifications of losing the House and Senate would be severe across every aspect of our lives. Republicans in Congress have been clear about their goals to nationally ban abortion across the full country, so we must all be clear-eyed about what we’re fighting against. “ But the devastation that patients and providers have experienced since Dobbs can’t just be fixed by electing Democrats in federal races alone. We need long-term, systemic investments in voter engagement across every ballot line—and that means investing in down-ballot races and voter education and outreach. “ That’s why #VOTEPROCHOICE has launched a six-figure investment across battleground states like Georgia and Ohio to get voters access to our voter guide of pro-choice candidates—the largest voter guide of its kind in the nation. Abortion is on the line in every election, from Congress to County Commission. And that means we need pro-choice voters to vote in every election, and for pro-choice candidates to win in every election.”

  • Vote Pro-Choice Celebrates Pro-choice Victories Across the Country | VoteProChoice

November 10, 2022 < Back Vote Pro-Choice Celebrates Pro-choice Victories Across the Country Heidi Sieck, co-founder and CEO of Vote Pro-Choice, released the following statement in response to Election Day results projecting strong Democratic performances across the country: “Last night, the entire country got to see what so many of us have known for years: This is a pro-choice nation, and abortion rights are popular in every corner of every state. “And in all five instances where abortion was directly on the ballot, abortion rights won by popular vote. “Every person who values reproductive freedom and the integrity of our democracy should thank a woman voter or a voter under 30 today. There is no doubt that young people and women across the country – particularly women of color – turned out in inspiring numbers to deliver these critical victories. From flipping the state legislature in Michigan to blocking a super-majority in North Carolina and everything in between, we would not be celebrating today without the work of young voters and of women who mobilized on behalf of body autonomy and abortion access. “While we celebrate now, we’ll be back to work soon enough, focusing on new opportunities to regain lost ground in places like Kentucky and Virginia, and working to protect patients and providers at the community level in 2023 and beyond.”
