#VOTEPROCHOICE BLASTS NEW TRUMP DIRECTIVE TO ROLL BACK U.N. RESOLUTIONS ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

NEW YORK—A new report on internal State Department directives shows the Trump administration is instructing U.S. diplomats at the United Nations to scale back resolutions on sexual health and violence against women. In response, national prochoice project #VOTEPROCHOICE co-founder Heidi Sieck issued the following statement:

“Today’s directive from the White House is one more reason why we must elect prochoice leaders up and down the ballot on Election Day. By directing American diplomats to roll back U.S. support for sexual and reproductive health programs, Donald Trump is once again showing a complete disregard for our bodies and our freedom. The White House is already dangerously attacking our reproductive freedom in the US—now they want to take this a step further by forcing the U.N. to go along with their extremist agenda.

"This administration continues to disregard science and research in favor of pleasing the nation’s conservative minority of anti-abortion extremists. People across the world already struggle to access safe abortions—this directive will only further endanger those who need medical help most. America is a staunchly prochoice nation, and we must vote like one next Tuesday. It’s time to elect leaders who will champion reproductive freedom and push back against the White House’s dangerous anti-choice agenda."
