#VOTEPROCHOICE ON SCOTUS VOTE TO BLOCK ABORTION LAW: "WE MUST REMAIN VIGILANT"

NEW YORK—Following the Supreme Court's vote to block a Louisiana abortion law, national pro-choice organizing project #VOTEPROCHOICE’s co-founder Heidi Sieck tonight issued the following statement:

“Reproductive freedom is a foundational human right. Just now, The Supreme Court blocked Louisiana’s latest effort to outlaw abortion services in the state. While the Supreme Court’s decision is commendable, we must remain vigilant and we must not stop fighting. The extreme, overly-funded, anti-choice minority has created a vortex of fear and misinformation that allowed Louisiana’s legislation and countless similar bills to advance this far. Anti-choice advocates and legislators will undoubtedly continue to use aggressive, hysterical tactics to suppress the truth—and they will not stop until they overturn Roe v. Wade.

We acknowledge the Supreme Court’s decision today, but we will never let down our guard. The threats to reproductive freedom are coming faster than ever, and we must continue to stand up, speak out, fight back—and vote prochoice.”
