National Prochoice Organizing Project #VOTEPROCHOICE Issues 'Repro Code Red' Alert Ahead of State of the Union
NEW YORK—National prochoice organizing project #VOTEPROCHOICE today issued a Repro Code Red alert in light of the massive, coordinated attacks against choice in the United States this week. In the next seven days, the antichoice movement is planning a strategic, proactive effort to issue widespread propaganda, introduce unscientific legislation, and manufacture hysteria. #VOTEPROCHOICE co-founder Heidi Sieck is calling on the nation's prochoice majority to stand up and speak out in support of reproductive freedom immediately.
“This could be the worst week for reproductive freedom this country has ever seen. In the days to come, the Supreme Court may issue a fatal ruling on Roe, the President will threaten reproductive freedom in his State of the Union, and the U.S. Senate will consider hyperbolic legislation about infanticide,” said #VOTEPROCHOICE co-founder Heidi Sieck. “The extreme, overly-funded antichoice minority has created a vortex of fear, hatred and miscommunication right now that is drowning out the truth: we are a prochoice nation — 72% of Americans support the right to reproductive freedom.”
Sieck continued, “Today #VOTEPROCHOICE is issuing a Repro Code Red alert. We are calling on every prochoice person in this country to share one clear message: we are a prochoice nation and we will not go back. The antichoice minority knows that we are stronger and more powerful, and they are using fear and shame to suppress this truth. The extremists are out in full force, and we must stand together and fight like we’ve never fought before. We could lose our freedom this week. We must stand up. We must speak out now.”
In the next week, the conservative antichoice minority is launching a strategic, proactive effort to threaten reproductive freedom:
Sunday: On Face the Nation, Donald Trump will preview his State of the Union, which will include firm antichoice language.
Monday: The Supreme Court will decide whether to put a medically unnecessary abortion restriction in Louisiana on hold. Their failure to intervene will signal the Supreme Court will not longer uphold previous decisions.
Monday: US Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) will introduce the hysterical “Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” in U.S. Senate to further manufacture outrage over false claims that reproductive healthcare is harming children.
Tuesday: Donald Trump plans to include firm antichoice language in State of the Union.
This week: Conservative politicians and media will continue coordinated attacks against prochoice champion and Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran and vilifying New York politicians for promoting common-sense legislation that supports reproductive freedom.
