Travis Nembhard
Running for:
Virginia House of Delegates - District 22
Upcoming Election Date:
2023-11-07
Travis is running for the Virginia House of Delegates to build a better community for his family. His focus is passing policies that benefit working families, including universal pre-K, paid family leave, and protecting against poorly planned and invasive development. He also believes it is important to work to bring civility to the political landscape wherever possible.
Travis’ priorities are creating a working economy for working families, strengthening our education system, protecting our fundamental rights, expanding access to affordable healthcare, and investing in local infrastructure. He believes that all Virginians deserve access to quality health care irrespective of their race, ethnicity, income level, location, or insurance provider. He defends a woman's right to make her own medical decisions - he was activated on this issue when he attended the Women's March in January 2017 after the election of Donald Trump, which was an important moment for him to voice his support for women's rights. He is also committed to protecting LGBTQ+ Virginians and all other marginalized groups against discrimination.
He is advocating for establishing a Working Families Bill of Rights, including paid family leave and universal pre-K, increased funding for teachers, support staff, and mental health professionals, codifying Roe v. Wade, reducing prescription drug costs, and protecting against poorly planned and uncoordinated development.Â
He is passionate that if we want a strong economy, we need to give our communities the tools to succeed. He is a strong believer that a rising tide lifts all boats and that if our working families thrive, so will our community, small businesses, and the overall economy.
